So. We work at a major label. We, and you (the talent), have become sick of stale showcase situations. Five people watching a rock band at 2 in the afternoon with their arms crossed isn't really anyone's idea of an accurate look at a project's potential.
Head to the Knitting Factory for "A&R Knights". Major Label A&R picks two bands for each show. Its an opportunity for bands to play for music industry execs (major and indie labels, booking agents, publishers, managers, lawyers etc) while inviting fans at an all ages venue.
