I've been playing the piano since I was old enough to sit on a piano bench. I had a music teacher for about a total of two years. Once I was able to get the basics (Every Good Boy Does Fine, yadda yadda), and understand even the simple concepts of tempo, key signature and time signature, I was pretty much bored with sheet music, and that's why, to this day, I still can't read it. Unless I sit for hours in front of the keyboard.
I picked up the guitar when I lived in Orange County. One of my neighbors, who was more interested in surfing than his brand new electric guitar, sold me his guitar and amp for a mere $40.00 so he could cash in on a really good deal on a wetsuit. I walked home with a 12" Crate amp and an off-brand guitar.
I met up with a guy named Brian in high school. He was the "Fast Times' Mike Damone" of guitars, and would buy and sell them like concert tickets. He allowed me to trade up my no-name guitar for a filed down Kramer with Humbuckers for $100.00. Those pickups STILL rock.
However, the wiring is really old, and the guitar is sitting in pretty bad condition. It is a "project" and awaiting the funds to bring it back to life. It's going to take a lot of funds - for 10 years, I've beat the hell out of that thing.
I briefly picked up the bass guitar, thanks to my friend and roommate Don Kovak. Back when we were both single, Don and I lived with 5 other guys in a 3 bedroom house. It was awesome, because back then, rent was 50-75 a month - of course, the drawback being you had to live light and share a room. Don had a bass guitar, and unlike most musicians I know, was more than happy that I used his equipment to learn and expiriment.
For my 34th Birthday, my wife went out and bought me a new guitar, totally unbeknownst to me. The Guitar Center down the street had a grand opening and she also bought me a RP-350 Pedal Set, which has the drum beats and over 100 new voices to play and tweak around with. I'm still learning how to use it (programming those are NOT easy), and naturally, I found a firmware upgrade (Do REAL musicians know how to flash their equipment's BIOS?) and already patched it up.
So what you hear at this point is expirimental stuff until I can get a Macintosh to record, fix my mistakes, do the auto timing on my earlies and lates.
But Enjoy! :)
Hey, I just got Shannon a little guitar for her B-Day, I managed to tune it,(with the help of an electric tuner), thats as far as I can get. Any advise? I am so pathedic...did I even spell that right?...lol XOXOXO
