Hello Ms. Downer, hope you're having a lovely day. :) Oh by the way, there IS a genre called Science Fantasy as opposed to Science Fiction, but few people are aware of the difference. Basically, sci-fi deals primarily with hard science and its effects on earth in the hypothetical future. The writing is usually grounded in a fair amount of research and laying the foundations for how all the gadgets work is a must. Science Fantasy is a slightly different genre focusing on the story; this is where all the laser battles and aliens fall into. (Think "Star Wars" and Frank Herbert's "Dune.") It's more fantastical in a sense because the gadgets don't need to make scientific sense (that is a bonus, though) in order to tell an absorbing tale, and the background itself is usually somewhere beyond earth, either a different planet or interstellar travel. Finally, Space Opera is a lighthearted subgenre of Science Fantasy focusing largely on the adventure aspect of those stories, such as the laser battles, zooming around in spaceships to escape the villians, etc. ("Star Wars" is, again, a perfect example of Space Opera.) But I'm not sure if that's what you meant by combining science and fantasy...if that's the case, then there are also those kinds of fantasies which, while grounded in some sort of psuedo-medieval background, nevertheless include a fair amount of scientific know-how. I think the subgenre is Modern Fantasy. :)

No, I didn't see the cemetery part. That's funny because World's End is where my interest in birdwatching truly gave birth. While there I saw what I didn't know at the time were Baltimore orioles and started researching and it all snowballed from there! Thanks for the add! CLICK HERE for The Vermont Birder...
