Within listening to the first five seconds of an Ann Bolynn song, it’s clear that these guys are on to something. With brutally honest lyrics, intense break through guitars, and dual singers, these guys know what it takes to make a song into a completely explosive listening experience. Enough said.
Ann Bolynn is a six piece band consisting of dual vocalists: Riann Jones and Chris Goddard, guitarists Cory Laney and Jonathan James, bassist Justin Abercrombie and Drummer Matthew Brannon. Started in late 2004 Laney and Abercrombie quickly sought out the rest of the band completing the line up by early 2005 and they’ve been solid ever since. In the summer of 2006, Ann Bolynn released a seven song EP with local favorites such as “Behold A Pale Horse” and “Seasons Die”. Now, the summer of 2007 finds the guys ready to tear up the road.
Have one conversation with this band and it’s immediately clear that they take their music very seriously but not themselves. They simply want to get out there and be heard, have fun, and put on a great show every night no matter the crowd. Their style of music is hard to categorize, but that’s what makes it so awesome. It’s not like a lot of the other generic things that are on the scene right now.
While fate may not be on their side, they still know it takes sincere dedication, patience, and a love of the business to continue doing what they do, because fate means nothing if there aren’t skills to stand on, and Ann Bolynn is standing about 6 feet above the rest.
