Se forma a mediados de 1998 en Colón Estado Táchira como un proyecto entre Jhonny Ruiz (Voz / Guitarra) y José Luis Chacón (Batería) después de haber abandonado la agrupación en que se conocieron, Luego de un tiempo, un viejo amigo de Jhonny, Jean Carlos Sobral (Guitarra) se unió a la banda, luego, por esas casualidades de la vida se integra Javier Vielma (Bajo) y desde el primer momento se sintió la química que seria la bandera de Animas Negras en todas sus presentaciones.
Luego de un tiempo buscando nombre decidieron llamarlo como la primera canción que escribió Jhonny (Voz) “Animas Negras” quedando los 4 integrantes satisfechos con este nombre ya que creían que de verdad representaba lo que querían transmitir con su música cada día mas inclinada hacia el Heavy Metal.
En el año 2007 se une a la banda Michael Zapata (Guitarra) quien les había acompañado en algunas ocasiones como guitarrista invitado para los tributos a Iron Maiden,
Sus principales influencias son bandas como Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rata Blanca, Dream Theater, Rush, Angra, Symphony X, Stratovarius y Nightwish entre otros.
En el año 2000 ganaron el primer Festival A.A. en la ciudad de Acarigua, al cual fueron invitados a la siguiente edición el mismo año. Cuentan con un Demo autotitulado de nueve temas grabado en el año 2000, en el año 2007 salió a la venta su primera producción profesional “La Orden del Cristal” la cual ha recibido muy buenas críticas dentro y fuera del país y están en plena gira nacional junto a WAR PIGS

Formed at the middle of 1998 at Colon – Táchira, Venezuela as a project between Jhonny Ruiz (Vocals/Guitar) and José Luis Chacón Caramaori (Drums) after leaving the band in which they met. After a while, Jhonny’s old friend, Jean Carlos Sobral (Guitar) joined the band. Then for those life casualties Javier Vielma (Bass) joins up, At that moment they felt the chemistry needed as a band to make great presentations.
Then after some time looking for the band’s name they decided to name it after the first song that Jhonny wrote, “Animas Negras” and it left all of them satisfied because they thought it represents what they wanted to say through their music, which was influenced by heavy metal each day more.
In 2007 Michael Zapata (Guitar) joins the band. He had played with them before as a guest musician for Iron Maiden’s tributes.
The primary bands that have influence them are, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rata Blanca, Dream Theater, Rush, Angra, Symphony X, Stratovarius and Nightwish among others.
In 2000, the band won the first A.A festival in the city of Acarigua. It was invited to the second edition the same year. The band has a demo named after it, recorded in 2000. Years of hard word and dedication passed by and finally in 2007 the band had on sale their first professional production “la Orden del Cristal” which has received very good critics inside and outside the country. Now Animas negras is on national tour with WAR PIGS.
