What I am Listen to at the moment:
UhHuHHER
Last nights show at the Mod CLub was a girl fest for sure... Haven't been in a room with that many hot girls in a long time.. You could tell who was there for the music n who wasn't lol. But i was there for the music! They started their set with a couple of chill songs, but by the end they got the girls up and dancing and really made and impact with "I see red" and "not a love song". I really love the title song of the album "Common Reaction" and well as one with the lyrics "i will wait to love u another night". That song hit my heartstrings for sure. They finished their set with a bang I think they ended with "safe zone" and their encore was "explode". They are super chill girls that even signed autographs for hungry little fans after the show (i waited n line through much pushing n shoving getting hit on by older women ect.) It was overall one of the best concerts I have been to this year!! They are done their tour but the album "Common Reaction" drops in August and I can't wait to see them again.
Spiral Beach
Ok now this new band out of Toronto I beleive.. Are hot! Their new song "Made of Stone" is amaizing. And their video is ever better. I am so impressed! I would take a listen I am not to sure about the rest of the album. But their single is awesome.
Light
Lights: I heard about her from a friend of mine... I was like who?? I heard some songs on his ipod and was hooked. Then I hear said songs on a Old Navy commercial?? She is really main stream, really addictive and I can't wait to see her live. I am so impressed really, she added me a while back n i liked it.. But i really didn't think she'd blow up like this. I love the song "drive my soul" which is everywhere right now. So u'll hear it without trying. Well add her and support cause she is super talented!
Tokyo Police Club
I love the new album "Elephant Shell". I am very impressed with the new sound, its a little more mellow, but just as catchy and just as addictive. I have been listening to it all week, its amazing and the vocalist 'dave' doesn't sound whiny like most other male leads. He has an earnest quality about his voice that just doesn't get old.. The lyrics are cute, n ironic I love "the nursery" as well as "the cave" and "juno" N 'tessellate' comes off with a BANG and is climbing the charts. these boys have sold out 2 shows in Toronto. And care touring around North America. Please buy this.. U will not be sorry for sure..
Born Ruffians
Red Yellow and Blue
Amazing album, the boys come back with a new (LP)album full of energy and all the songs are single quality. When I went to their Hamilton show a month ago, the crowd was dancing to "hummingbird" and "I need a life" and "foxes mate for life"... I personally love "badonkadonkey" (ps?) But i must say I wasn't a fan of their last EP, Kurt Vonugut wasn't my thing. But this album grabbed my attention and kept it there!! Lead singer Luke Lalonde's register-pushing pipes, mixed with the gang vocals from rhythm section Mitch DeRosier and Steve Hamelin, set these ruffians apart from the over synth pushing indie scene out there today.
Definitely an Itunes buy!! n go see them on their tour across the states, or check them out in town (Toronto) on the 24th!
Goldfrapp
This new album Seventh Tree is folk inspired, compared to her last effort Black Cherry. I am entranced by her voice, which has a new softness (a kind of whispyness). Her synths are a lot more understated on "Clowns" "little bird" and "Happiness". My favorite on this album have to be "A&E" and the favorite lyrics are "its a blue bright blue staruday". Second favorite is "Cologne Cerrone Houdini" and lyrics are "I'm not your kind i'm not your girl..." the corus is soo catchy i wish i know what she was saying. Her songs aren't as intense as her last effort, they don't have the hit you in the face hook. This album with a lot more strings, guitar picking, and rainy day type music definitely shows her move away from her interest in the IN crowd. I think she will gain a more mature and older fan base. The music has a lot of listening depth to it, as well it seems rounder and carries u, all the songs contain a sort of build. I will definitely recommend a listen.
