Amanda Leggett writes music that reminds us of home. As soothing as they are sorrowful, her songs draw from the light of gospel and the despair of the blues. The result is a quietly hopeful album which invites the listener to stop and be still.
It’s not difficult to unearth the roots of Amanda’s music. Throughout her childhood, the weepy, soulful songs of Patsy Cline and Mahalia Jackson played on the family tape player. Like well-worn relatives, the songs made themselves at home. ‘I loved the old, sad quality of Patsy Cline with her sometimes whimpering, but always strong and womanly voice’, she remembers. Amanda also attributes much inspiration to people like Emmylou Harris, Jon Dee Graham and Aimee Mann, whom she considers to be , ‘somewhat prophetic in the way they draw out the truths of our common lives.’ Ultimately, Amanda’s music distills the beautiful and devastating ways that we relate to one another into songs that pierce the heart and touch the soul.

I just actually found a couple talented musicians and they want me to sing for them, so I suppose I will try and let you know how that goes as well. anyway, im glad to see you are getting back into your music again!

Your description is perfect...the other night, I scoured my room for something comforting and all I could do was put on your album. Then I could breathe a little easier. Thank you.
