About Al Chivers - Leith FM 98.8 - Sundays 2 til 4pm
UPDATE!
Unfortunately I am no longer with Leith FM. This was an amicable split, where I had the offer to continue, but declined. I will be pursuing my journalism interest in the near future with other magazines, and hopefully a return to radio at some point, but for now I'm completing music projects of my own, which have been side lined too long.
For the time being however please direct any enquries to John Paul Mason of Leith FM who is in my top friends. He's into more indie styles, but has great tastes and is a top guy. If you would still like to contact me however, or if I can help in any way please email alonleithfm (at) hotmail (dot) co (dot) uk. I still love to hear demos / promos, and will gladly write / speak about them in the future.
My name is Al, and I present an alternative music show on Leith FM 98.8 every Sunday 2 til 4pm, showcasing the best bands from around Edinburgh, Scotland and beyond! See the gigs above that I'll be attending.
Are you a band, and you want to be featured on the show? Or are you a possible listener and want to hear your favourite act? Either send me a message on here or email alonleithfm (at) hotmail (dot) co (dot) uk, you know what to do!

Yes, yes.... we know its a bit small but if you get the magnifying glass out you will clearly be able to read:
SATURDAY JUNE 22nd THE ARK, EDINBURGH:
PAPER BEATS ROCK (ex-Idlewild sleaze grunge) AUDIO SAFARI (melodic grunge) COHOLIC (anthemic indie rock) THE MUNCHKINS (frantic alt rock with psychedelic explosions) VOICE OF THE MYSTERONS (chaotic rapid-fire Beefheart prog-punk) £4 @ 7.30pm
or words to that effect. Anyway, you should like, come or something..
Rags & Feathers recently supported a Hawk and a Hacksaw in Glasgow, and rather brilliant they were too. Note perfect folk-pop, kinda like the Handsome Family by way of Fairport Convention.
Ziggy Campbell fronts Edinburgh folktronic popsters FOUND. His solo performances tread a similar path, but the stripped back set-up helps place more emphasis on intimacy and experimentation, helped by his collection of home-made instruments and vintage loop pedals.
Having already recorded and released two albums this year (Apple Tits for Destuction - which has "a 60s vibe", and Dance, which is "mainly all circuit bent instruments and drums"), and with plans for two more (one abstract war concept album, and one straight forward indie), Les Enfant Bastard could just be the most prolific, if not the most diverse, artist in Scotland just now.
Hey ho Al! Could you tell people about this? These young bucks are trying to get some cash to get on their American tour in 3 weeks. We think you should come and bring all your family. Pets get in for free.
