Married to music. hehe. Most of the time I listen to hip-hop. Stuff like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pharcyde, The Visionaries, Guru, Jurassic 5, Common, The Mitchell Brothers, stuff like that. And, of course, some german stuff like RAG, Clueso, Freundeskreis, Olli Banjo, Aphroe, Mopz Wanted, Dendemann, Moses Pelham, Summsemann, etc. pp.
But I'm also a big fan of reggae and dancehall. At home, I prefer chilly roots reggae tunes, and when I'm going out, I like to party to dancehall.
I also like to listen to funk and soul tunes, sometimes dub is my "weapon of choice", depends.
I also like "surf music" (e.g. from the brushfire family) a lot: Donavon Frankenreiter, G. Love, Matt Costa, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, Tristan Prettyman, etc.
Sometimes I fall back to my younger days and listen to punkrock / metal. I used to listen to Offspring, Pennywise, System Of A Down, Rage Against The Machine, No Use For A Name, Bad Religion, Green Day, Blink 182 and bands like that a lot. Sometimes I still play them, but not as often as I used to.
Most important thing about music for me is the fact that the songs deliver a message. One that I can relate to. Whether they are about things I experienced, stuff I stand for, or political and social ideals I share with the musicians. I'm not much of a materialistic person, that's why I don't listen to bling-bling chart music.
