Alma De Candela (Soul of Fire) started at the beginning of 2006 as a result of a gig offer from Rosalinda's Fonda in Greenville SC. Since then the band has grown to be known as the premiere 'Orquesta Latina' in the Upstate. Cuban percussionist, Jose Marquez is featured as the percussion section leader. Jose is a graduate of the Cuban Music Conservatory and upon arriving in the US in 1980, he has toured the world with Dizzy Gillespie and Mongo Santamaria. The band had been the headliner for the Make a Wish Foundation's Greenville International Wine Festival for 2 years running, and will return as the headliner for the 2008 Greenville Festival and the Charleston Festival. Along with local gigs, the band has begun touring the southeast and bringing it's fire and passion for Latin music with them.
I hope you guys are doing great! I'm gonna be in the Greenville area for a little while I think. I have not been dancing in a LONG time. Is there anything coming up that would be out of the ordinary?
