Lean, muscular and feminine. Honest and a defender of the innocent.
After the release of her first album Unsettled Down (Rounder Records), Alana Levandoski has been widely touring between 2005 and 2007. Having performed multiple times in Canada, the UK, France, The Netherlands, Spain and Ireland, Alana is now home for awhile and has gone on to record her second album in the winter of '08(due out early '09).
The new album was recorded with famed Liverpool producer Ken Nelson (Coldplay, Paulo Nutini) and a group of wonderful musicians (*see top friends) in St. John Divine Anglican Church of Kelwood, Manitoba as well as at Parr St Studios in Liverpool.
Alana's reputation has been bolstered by touring with Dar Williams, Lynn Miles, Blue Rodeo, Corb Lund, Randy Bachman, Tal Bachman, Lindy, Caroline Herring, Tanya Tucker and more. She has also co-written with Canadian folk icon Sylvia Tyson, Mark Simos(Alison Krauss), Simon Wilcox, Sam Ashworth, Colin Linden, Gary Nichols, James LeBlanc, George Canyon, and Colin Cripps.
Bob Harris of BBC2 says: "Alana is part of an emerging generation of new artists who are reflecting the range of influences that make Canadian music so exciting."
Hailed as "the best new artist I've heard come along since Mindy Smith" - Maverick Magazine, and "the 'it girl' of Canadian roots music this year" -CBC, Alana has gained a reputation as a great writer "with bags of potential".
Alana heads out on a 1600km cycling tour of the Great Lakes this July... look on site soon for a way you can sponsor her! Proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity.
Send in your cycling stories... whether you are going to the store on your bike or heading out on long treks, Alana is interested in knowing how much you are riding this spring and summer. www.1world2wheels.com
Hi Alana It was fantastic to hear Larry LeBlanc in conversation with Bob Harris coming live from Toronto last Saturday. Larry spoke about you and Bob then played Brand New Song 'HELLO' which Larry brought in. How special to hear that !! A departure from the Prairie Sun CD regarding recording style but WOW! It is BRILLIANT and this was an unmixed version !!. The guitar playing is amazing and your Voice ..WOW!!! About your forthcoming album Bob said "What I’ve Heard Of It its beautiful" As a fan I'm ready to embrace Part 2 of your music journey.
Hey Alana, Thanks for joining the site. How you doing? Getting geared-up for summer? Just thought to let you know theres new tracks on the site. Sounding much better than the last with Trent's help. These are the Originals I'm working on now. Let me know what you think. Please feel free to leave a comment in the blog regarding feedback. I appreciate all comments. Recording is going we'll, should be done very soon. 'Timeless' (Box set) is already completed. Stay in touch... Nikko
Thank you so much for accepting my friend request. I downloaded Unsettled Down and was very pleasantly surprised to find that EACH song grabbed me. That is rather rare for me. Usually, on a minimum 10-song CD, I'll find at least 2 or 3 that I can take or leave, but you're a perfect 10!
I think you've also restored my faith in this genre of music. I was gradually losing interest, feeling that most of the product was becoming clichéd. But your approach is so fresh, especially your lyrics. You have very interesting and different ways of looking at things in life.
All best wishes to you for success in your new musical endeavours. Certainly, I don't think you're lacking for fairy dust. ;)
Stay creative! Robin
PS - I added you and your links to the promo display on my profile.
Thanks for accepting my friend request. I was reading Made in Manitoba, by John Einarson, and there was a story about you, and a great story it is. Anyway, great to find you. Happy New Year! :)

Hi Alana - You played a fantastic set last night at The Musician bar in Leicester - congrats. Many thanks for the dedication of Moonshine and allowing me to pick the last song of the set. It was lovely to meet you again - ace, fab, brill, triffic, etc.
I'd very much welcome your opinion, if you get a chance to, of my singing with the band - there's an mp3 on my profile page, and there are several on the band's page - www.myspace.com/angelagarry and www.msypace.com/mainstreetuk
<raises glass> Here's to your next tour (and album)! Gin and tonics all round - cheers!
Angela (a.k.a. queen of the abbrevs, and NOT a stalker by any means)
Just a note to wish you good luck with the UK tour. I’m really looking forward to seeing you and Lynn again. Last year when you both played at the Borderline with Dar Williams was an excellent evening. I’m also going to see Arcade Fire, who are playing in London the week before you. It would be great if you could get to support them. See you at the Green Note Café.
A quick note to let you know my new radio show is online. Click here to hear it. Enjoy.
