About me:
PURA VIDA 24 / 7 !!!!!!! Alajuela Campground started 1998 in Mexico as Alamo Hostel,in 2007 we moved the business to Costa Rica. Our hostel is located in the mountains, at about 1000 m above the sea.Perfect climate year around ! We dont have too many rules, its more like a bunch of people sharing a big nice house together. Some of us work, some are taking off some time, some are here to learn Spanish, a lot of people use us as a base to explore Costa Rica. We are very close to San Jose airport, so if you come in late or fly out early in the morning, let us know and we arrange a shuttle. Maybe we are not the most organized hostel and some times we have loud parties, but this is the place where people connect and travel together! MYSPACE: Some myspace members made their way to Alajuela campground like.Stefan ( the owner ) ,Rachel ,Alana,El Gringasmo, E-Marj-N-C,Blake,Breck ( plays the guitar and gives joga lessons in the hostel ) ...check out my top friends to find them! SPANISH :This is the perfect place to learn Spanish, we teach English to locals and can help you to improve your Spanish and your English, in case you..re not a native English speaker.. English-Spanish classes are held Mo-Fr from 6-8 PM Its free for guests and Costa Ricans. We offer tent spaces,RV spaces, private single and double rooms, dorm beds or just sleep in one of our hammocks under shady fruit trees. ACG has its own soccer field 20 m x 40m with 2 goals which can be used for other team sports as well. Sport teams are always welcome, please email for group rates. ( 2x5 m) All guests have access to our kitchen and laundry. We offer 5 ! bathrooms,so no waiting in the morning. Relaxed atmosphere,we don..t have too many rules, all ages welcome. Friendly doggies,no problemo! Our campground has a fence and gates and we have 2 nice dogs too. Please call Stefan at 00506 83989024 or email to sd705@yahoo.com Check out our web site www.alajuelacampground.com VOLUNTEER POSITIONS We need volunteers for the hostel,English teachers for our free English classes to the locals,( Which turned out to be a great success,a lot of people show up everyday) for a local pet spaying and neutering program, a local tour company,a kindergarden close to us, and various other volunteer positions in Alajuela. LEARNING SPANISH WHILE TEACHING BASIC ENGLISH We are offering free English classes in small groups to the locals, help us and pick up Spanish at the same time! ( Urgent, a lot of locals show up ,learn Spanish while teaching English !!!) PRICES Tent Camping $ 5 a person RV Spaces $ 6 a person Dorms $ 10 a person Single room $ 20 Double $ 30 2 people Please email for weekly and monthly rates to sd705@yahoo.com HOW TO GET HERE Coming from the Airport turn right at the 2 way street surrounding Alajuela. ( Calle Ancha ) Follow Calle Ancha all the way to the Courthouse ( El Corte ),you have to take 2 left turns in order to stay on Calle Ancha. At the courthouse take a right,go 400 m straight, turn left at the Y intersection, turn right at the next Y intersection and follow the sign to Hotel Pura Vida,we are located right next to Quinta San Angel.( On the right hand side.) Or if you use public transport coming from the airport: Take the TUASA bus to Alajuela, there take another bus from Alajuela terminal to Tuetal, get off at Quinta San Angel.Busfare is $ 0.20 Taxi is less then $ 2 from downtown Alajuela or $ 6 from the airport. ( Use Alajuela City cabs, not airport cabs, there are cheaper, you find them at the bus stop ) Just 10 minutes from the internacional Airport. Instructions for taxi driver. Tuetal, 1 km norte de la corte, al costado sur de Quinta San Angel, follow signs to Hotel Pura Vida. Please don..t ask at Hotel Pura where we are, they are a little annoyed about people popping in at 3.00 am and asking for us! Call 83989024 if you get lost. Alajuela City Info This inland region is marked by natural beauty and a series of spectacular volcanoes that make up the Cordillera Central mountain range. Volcan Arenal, Alajuela’s main attraction, is the most spectacular volcano in Costa Rica and possibly the world. The provincial capital of Alajuela is about 11 miles (18km) northwest of San Jose and a short drive from Juan Santamaria International Airport. Alajuela sits on a gentle slope and is slightly warmer than neighboring San Jose, and thus attracts city dwellers in the summer months. Alajuela’s town center is much like the hectic street markets in San Jose, if a bit smaller and laid back; several nearby villages are even more slower-paced, and are popular among tourists. Alajuela Nightlife: We have bar hopping tours in downtown Alajuela! Contact Information: Teléfono: (506)-398 9024 Costa Rica Email sd705@yahoo.com

Hostels Database Hostelz.com - The world hostels guide.

Who I'd like to meet:

People that want to get away from the hot humid beaches for a few days.RV ers, campers, hikers, bikers, soccer players....... Deutsche die mit ihrem Wohnmobil die Panamericana befahren und nette Leute kennenlernen wollen, oder einfach nur auf der Suche nach einem Campingplatz in Costa Rica sind.

Dulisch,

Things are going well here. Just working right now. It seems like the hostel is doing well. Keep it up. You need to get girls like this at your hostel. Take care.

Hola Amigo,

Long time no see. Get everything squared away in Germany? Things are good here. Looks like things are going well in CR. TJ, Rosarito, and Ensenada are crap. There was a rival gang shootout in TJ killing 13 people and some Japanese businessman was shot and killed in Ensenada. We're not going in those areas for a long time. TTYL.

33 more days and I will be in your neck of the woods. How far out of the city (San Jose) are you? Oh, and how late are you accepting people, because my flight gets in around 10pm, after all of the hassle at the airport and travel it could be well after midnight. Just curious.
