Em 2006, na cidade mineira de Juiz de Fora, Louise Gracielle (vocais), Philip Massi (guitarra/vocais), Gustavo Riani (baixo), Luciano Faria (guitarra) e Thiago de Andrade (bateria) fundaram a banda Aknatha. Meses depois, Ruy Alhadas (teclado) uniu-se ao quinteto.
Fechada a formação, os integrantes começaram a procurar um ponto em comum entre suas diversas influências musicais, caminhando em uma vertente: o rock progressivo.
Desde então, a banda busca compor suas músicas sob influência de respeitados nomes do metal internacional, tais como Arjen Lucassen, Stream of Passion e Nemesea. No repertório, além de músicas próprias, há covers de After Forever, Stream of Passion, Dream Theater, incluindo, ainda, versões de Queen e Pink Floyd.
Entre julho e setembro de 2007, Aknatha realizou suas primeiras apresentações no Festival de Bandas Novas e sua performance lhe garantiu uma vaga no CD do festival, com a faixa Destiny.

In 2006, in the Brazilian city of Juiz de Fora, Louise Gracielle (vocal), Philip Massi (vocal/guitar), Gustavo Riani (bass), Luciano Faria (guitar) and Thiago de Andrade (drum) founded the band Aknatha. A few months later, Ruy Alhadas (keyboard) joined the quintet.
As a sextet, the band started looking for a common taste in music, among all their personal varied influence. They finally decided upon progressive rock music.
Aknatha composes its own songs finding inspiration in the music of notable names from the metal scene such as Arjen Lucassen, Stream of Passion and Nemesea. Along with their original compositions, their repetoire includes covers from After Forever, Stream of Passion, Dream Theater. They also perform versions of Queen and Pink Floyd's songs as well.
Between July and September 2007, Aknatha gave its first shows at Festival de Bandas Novas and, through its great results, got the chance to record a track, Destiny, for the festival's album.
