Combining uplifting and majestic melodies with raw aggression, Æthyrium, is quickly garnering a name for themselves in the local Metal scene. From their pulse quickening brand of Thrash Metal, to their relentless self-promotion, to the one-on-one contact they give at their shows, Æthyrium desires nothing less than to be THE Metal act that gets Portland's sluggish music scene the kick in the ass that it needs.
To the band members, their music, art, and lifestyle is a balancing act, juxtoposing the contradictory in exposition of the whole. Steve and M. Cole's cunning guitar tactics, blending ubiquitious subtltey and pure power, fuse itself to the careful progressions of Dustin and Eryck's driving rhythms. All this culminating from the initial start, to the climax of the final song of the evening.
Writing catchy songs in a style not exactly famous for being easy to listen to, and putting on an intense performance with casual aplomb is merely icing on the cake in the grand scheme of Æthyrium's concept.
