Absent I is a five-piece acoustic/electronic group from Minneapolis,
MN. Launched in early 2006, Absent I has built a respectable,
attentive, and growing fan base throughout the Midwest and beyond in a
short period of time.
With the help of the Somnio Artist Group, Absent I released a 4-song
demo recording in mid-2006. In the first four months that these four
songs have been available, Absent I has had 16,000+ plays on MySpace
and sold several hundred CDs at performances and online. The music of
Absent I is influenced by artists such as Portishead, Bjork,
Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, and A Perfect Circle, and has modern day
similarities to Zero 7, Halloween Alaska, Imogen Heap, and Peeping
Tom. The Duluth News Tribune recently referred to Absent I as "Indie
rock with a new age twist."
With countless performances under its belt including tours out to
the west coast and around the midwest, Absent I continues to grow and
flourish while performing at high-profile Minneapolis venues such as
First-Avenue Mainroom and the Fineline Music Café. While currently
recording their debut album due out later this fall/winter produced by
2001 Grammy Award Winner Steve Hodge, Absent I is touring the Midwest
between studio sessions spreading awareness of the project.
