Trob-Man's Interests
General
Photography and art; writing fiction, TV/cinema scripts, and poetry; reading novels and magazines; web design (HTML and PHP -- I manage 10 domain names), most anything else with computers, games, and having fun in general. Hanging with my friends. Eating out. Neverwinter Nights! Most anything medieval-style fantasy, most anything sci-fi, and most anything to do with pirates... ARRRRR!
Music
Most types of rock. Enjoy hard rock, heavy metal, modern rock, alternative rock, '80s rock, and classic rock. Also enjoy theatrical soundtracks. Favorite artists/bands: Rob Zombie/White Zombie, Black Sabbath (Ozzie or Dio), Ozzie's solo work, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Stone Temple Pilots, Guns 'n' Roses, Velvet Revolver, Pearl Jam, Midnight Oil, Men at Work, Tears for Fears, REM, Soundgarden/Audio Slave, "Weird Al," MC Chris, Ray Stevens, Gustav Holtz, John Williams, Vangelis, Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, and so much more.
Movies
Star Wars, Transformers, Stargate, Aliens, Terminator, Predator, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, Princess Bride, Conan the Barbarian, Spider-Man, Willow, anything by Monty Python, and so much more -- too numerous to list. I'm a big movie fan. Also, I've worked on an independent film and a documentary as a cinematographer. I hope to be producing/directing and doing the cinematography work on a series of movies that I'm writing the scripts for.
Television
Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, Farscape, Babylon 5, Clone Wars, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Venture Brothers, Family Guy, Futurama, Sealab 2021, Robot Chicken, Smallville, Roswell. Looking forward to the new Clone Wars cartoon series in 2008 and the new Star Wars live-action TV series upcoming in 2009.
Books
Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy and "The Hobbit," George R.R. Martin's "Game of Thrones," classic sci-fi like most anything by Ray Bradburry, Harry Harrison, Isaac Asimov, Ben Bova, Orson Scott Card, Robert Heinlein, and so many others. Comedy sci-fi Douglas Adams and comedy fantasy by Terry Pratchett. Anything Star Wars (but Timothy Zahn and Michael Stackpole are my favorites). My friend Max McCoy http://maxmccoy.com is a novelist who has worked on many Westerns and Indiana Jones novels. I also enjoy books on writing (novels and screenwriting) like those by Orson Scott Card, Stephen King, Ray Bradburry, Terry Brooks, Ben Bova, and Chris Voegler. My favorite screenwriting book is by J. Michael Stracynski (writer from Murder, She Write and writer/creator of Babylon 5).
Heroes
1. Chokra Broodslayer -- he rules! j/k
2. Conan the Barbarian! "Conan, what is best in life?" "To see your enemies crushed and driven before you and to hear the lamentations of their women." "Yes! That is correct!"
3. Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker (not the wussy, whiny Luke from Episode IV) and the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker is even better :)
4. Cap'n Blackun Bluebeard, the one-eyed, one-legged, one-handed, pegleg, patch-eye, hook pirate! Scourge of the 6 1/2 bloody seas! Avast! Wearing his signature brown pants and red shirt -- the red shirt to hide the blood in case he gets shot in battle (his crew must not falter)... and the brown pants... well... you get the idea!
5. Gandalf the Gray, Mithrandir (he looked much better in gray *grin*).
6. Indiana Jones -- hero, rogue, scoundrel, that great fedora, the Webley pistol, the whip, the bomber's jacket... as they always say, "If Adventure had a name, it would be 'Indiana Jones.'"
To truly understand what a "hero" is... read "The Hero With a Thousand Faces," a study of mythology and the hero mythos by Joseph Campbell. "Then, and only then, a Jedi will you be."
