TERRENCE OLIVER IS MANY THINGS.
A native of Newark, New Jersey, Terrence came to love music through church. While he began singing at the age of 6, he did not take to the stage until he was 12 years old. It was at a junior high talent show where Terrence sang on stage for the first time, his rendition of Luther Vandross So Amazing.
Terrence studied classical music and musical theater. After graduating from boarding school in Connecticut and deferring his admission to the prestigious Vassar College, Terrence would return to New Jersey in search of a recording contract. At the age of 18, Terrence found his way into the music industry. After returning to and graduating from Vassar, he moved to New York City.
Terrence has performed at showcases, benefits and open mics including Nells, Wilsons, groove, and the Village Underground. Terrence even opened himself up to modeling. Terrence can also be seen as a model in Maxwell's Video titled Lets Not Play the Game. It was a song from the Best Man soundtrack.
Terrence would later return to the church and join Total Praise, a 150 person gospel choir in Brooklyn, New York where he was a soloist. The choir released their first critically acclaimed recoding Total Praise Live in 2003. Going back to the church was important to his growth as a person and an artist. Terrence believes he was called from the choir to share his gift with a larger audience.
You can hear Terrences influences in his vocals, melodies and lyrics. Growing up, he listened to a lot of R&B, Hip-Hop, Gospel, Jazz and Rock. His CD collection ranges from Donny Hathaway and Biggie Smalls to Maroon 5 and Cassandra Wilson.
While he is many things, he is always TERRENCE OLIVER a fierce vocalist and songwriter who is destined to win the heart of the world.
I have been ok. Had a rough past two weeks.. kinda cold.. got the flew bug that's been going around. the second year now. that sucks..lol but i am off that now just a slight cold. A good friend of mine's mom just passed. she was so young. I went to the wake..never been to one before... and the love and support there was so abundant. The turn out was presidential! So it felt good to see all the love and support they got for the loss of their mom. Then ofcourse this stupid comp. i never fully got it up and running again. I am working in safe mode again . it was down for a week..lol. with all that going on..working alot. In the gym way hard. so i am just a mess of things. but everything will be cool shortly. for a bit and i can be more frequent for a minute. then i will get swamped again ..lol but hey. I always come back!:):):) The coolest this is that you are still here:) Thank you for sticking in there with me.
