(Simon Subsonic writes - on behalf of all at Subs - i am sure that Warren & Chris will have something to add later) )
After 4 years Subsonic Maidstone has finished its run at the Loft.
Firstly - Thanks again for your Support. It was good while it lasted.
Subsonic will be back in Maidstone as soon as we can arrange a new venue. This has been difficult to arrange at short notice, please bear with us.
All that i can say is that i am sorry for the late cancellation of our last night on the 19th October. We had hoped to run a farewell night on the 19th Oct as advertised. The notice that we got from the venue, was a voicemail from the owner informing us that we were cancelled and "not welcome". We were subsiquently unable to contact him to discuss the matter further, or let you know of the change. it would still seem that the venue has been sub leased to a new promoter for future events.
Since my inital Myspace blog a few days ago, it would seem that the Club Class are going to try to run a copiest "Subsonic" type night in the short term, to cash the on scene and dumb down the music policy on Fridays.
Despite what they may tell you, we do not believe that the new promoters of the Loft do not have your best interest at heart. Whatever name they are using, the people behind it are really dance promoters, jumping somebody else's train. Time will tell.... but i expect that the only person involved with the Electric Gardens at the nights (who is not from the river bar )will be an accountant.
Having fought for years to keep the indie, alternative and rock to clubscene alive in Kent , I can only hope that maybe the dj's from the River bar are infact an undiscovered Dj talent:What I do know is that deep down the chancers behind them are not on your side, they would perfer to have Chardoney and her boyfreind "Pikey" Pete than werdios like you and me at their night everytime........ i hope for your sake
