RESIDENT DJS
DADDY KEV
[Alpha Pup]
Batting first on the Low End Theory lineup is legendary producer and label boss Daddy Kev. As a producer and engineer, he's spent the last decade crafting classics for the likes of AWOL One, Busdriver, The Grouch, Mix Master Mike, Abstract Tribe Unique, D-Styles, Freestyle Fellowship, The Shape Shifters and many more. His DJ sets are a high-tech affair with Kev primarily engaged in live remixes, slicing experimental beats and hip-hop classics to shreds. http://www.myspace.com/daddykev
NOBODY
[Plug Research]
From his adventures on the road with Mars Volta and Prefuse 73, to his production and remixes for Postal Service, Mystic Chords of Memory and Busdriver, coupled with his own solo work on labels such as Rough Trade and Plug Research, Nobody is a living tour de force of creative genius. http://www.myspace.com/nobodyelvin
THE GASLAMP KILLER
[Low End Theory]
Over the course of the last few years, Gaslamp Killer has established a solid rep for devastating beats and intricate cuts. This nomadic West Coaster has steadily smashed the scene from San Diego to Los Angeles to San Francisco, earning the respect of heavyweight players in the process. Bear witness to one of his epic sets and see what the buzz is all about. http://www.myspace.com/thegaslampkiller
D-STYLES
[Funkshitup]
His virtuoso skills on the turntables have been compared to that of Jimi Hendrix and John Coltrane. As a former member of Invisibl Skratch Piklz and Beat Junkies, he toured the globe, helping transform turntablism into a global phenomenon. Now, the legendary D-Styles is back on the frontlines of underground culture, shredding your soul every week at Low End Theory. http://www.myspace.com/djdstyles
RESIDENT MC
NOCANDO
[Alpha Pup]
He's no longer a secret. After winning the 2007 Scribble Jam MC Battle Championship, Nocando has been catapulted to new levels international fame. He spent many Thursday nights honing his skills at Project Blowed, and has broken the dreams and hopes of countless would-be-MCs. http://www.myspace.com/nocando
RESIDENT ARTIST
MEAR ONE
With a self-taught painting career that spans over twenty years, Mear One has achieved mythic status on the world stage of graffiti. A museum-level fine artist, Mear One continues to challenge the paradigms of urban art with each new endeavor. Witness a true master at work. http://www.myspace.com/mearone
FEATURED GUESTS: THIS WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 10TH 2008
On Wednesday, September 10th, Low End Theory returns for another night of sublime subharmonic vibration. This time we're bringing you an all-star lineup of L.A. icons, featuring full scale sets from House Shoes, Rhettmatic, Ras G and Kutmah. File under: completely fucking insane. All residents on deck for the sonic devastation you're accustomed to. Please note that we're back inside for this one, so early arrival would be highly recommended:
HOUSE SHOES
[Detroit]
He started his career in Detroit, did the record store hustle, met Dilla in the mid-90s, and would emerge as one of Motor City's greatest DJ talents in modern times. He moved to Los Angeles a few years back, and can now be found lighting up crowds from Venice to Pomona. He hasn't rocked a DJ set at Low End in eons, and we're excited beyond words to hear him wreck shop. http://www.myspace.com/djhouseshoes
RHETTMATIC
[Beat Junkies]
A true O.G., DJ Rhettmatic has been putting in work since 1983 as one of L.A.'s most valuable DJs. A founding member of the Beat Junkies and Visionaries, he's earned more stripes than a zebra. He's as deadly on the 1200s as he is on the SP12 -- as we learned at Beat Invitational 6 -- and we're confident you'll agree as Rhettmatic rocks his first prime time DJ set at Low End Theory. http://www.myspace.com/rhettmatic
RAS G
[The Afrikan Space Program]
With a handful of records, some blunts and an MPC, this L.A. producer has been making beats for five years now and has released a handful of EPs on the Poo-Bah label. With dub heavy bass and dusty synth beats, Ras G is a Low End favorite and we can't wait for him to bring the noise. http://www.myspace.com/rasg
KUTMAH
[Dublab]
One of L.A.'s greatest DJ talents, the goliath behind the decks known as Kutmah has been holding down Angelino hotspots like Firecracker and Soundlessons for years. He's rocked Low End on countless occasions, and we're glad to have him on the team for this week's show. http://www.myspace.com/kutmah
