Our music is diverse. Since we write all the music we play, and we come from different musical influences, our style is unique. We might play one song that is reminicent of an 80's power ballad, followed by an alternative upbeat sounding song, followed by county/southern rock song.
Hard Times Band was named for its past. Here is the history. The first day the band was officially formed, the original bass player went home to get his bass for the band’s first practice to find that his fiancee’ had committed suicide. Over the next 5 years one of the founding members of the band got divorced, and the other founding member went bankrupt. On the night the band shot its video for the song "White Trash" the child actor who played “young Travis” in the video went home and committed suicide. Following all of this the band decided that no other name fit, and they became known as The Hard Times Band.
We are actually in an era of Good Times as of late. We have two albums worth of new music really to go to the studio as soon as Mike gives his okay on drums. We have a great team of musicians working on this project and our music keeps getting better and better. Since The hard times are behind us, the band has experienced numerous positive turns such as having the opportunity to play at such fun venues as the Nebraska State Fair, Fremont Days Rodeo, Tin Lizzy's, Bushwackers, The Manhattan Club, Ice House, Whiskey RoadHouse, The Lounge, Maggie McCall's, The Lodge, The Other Bar, The Press Room, The Scott Voorhes Show and a number of other wonderful places. Today, HTB is working in the studio on their second AND third albums. We have videos on YouTube to check out namely "It Just Has To", "White Trash" and "It Is What It Is."
We are deeply saddened by the recent shooting in our city as well as the campuses around the country. We were personally affected by the losses and are in the process of finishing a musical composition to contribute to our healing process as well as to offer love and comfort to others. We want to express that the pain families are experiencing is not going unnoticed by those around them. We have all lived through Sept 11,2001, poverty, war, senseless shootings, HepC tragedies and numerous other illnesses and loss. We look forward to the future. Hard Times Band
