Me Myself and I.....Oh yeah Approach and Mac Lethal sometimes
Influences
TOO MANY TO LIST...
Irish people have emotions too. That being said, after playing over 100 shows on 3 separate tours in under 6 months-- Mac Lethal had a lot of emotions with no target to throw them at. It seemed that he couldn't go a night without a few drinks, or without calling people on the phone to have conversations about the perils of life. His friend DJ Sku began to get worried for him. He decided it was time to make the first Mac Lethal mixtape.
"I basically sat him down and explained to him that all he needs to do is rap over whatever music I play him, and this will calm him down and regulate his chaotic emotions." Sku explains. "We'd sit at the house. I'd play a beat, give Mac a 6 pack of Old Rasputin, or Schlafley's Summer Kolsch, and I'd leave the room. An hour later I'd come back and Mac would have a new mixtape song done."
Crafted drunkly over the course of June and July, Mac Lethal and DJ Sku's CROWN PRIME RIB MIXTAPE, is a journey through extravagant rhythms, impeccable rhyme writing, and very odd concepts over DJ Sku's favorite turntable canvases.
Black Clover Records is proud to finally have stake in the mixtape game. Rappers beware, while you're being the best rapper ever, this drunken, bald-headed Irish boy might trip and fall into you, shattering your front teeth. And being that he doesn't have insurance, you will talk fucked up for the rest of your life.
Enjoy the mixtape!

Before you step into the alternate universe of Corey Aguilar known onstage as DJ Sku it's important to know what to expect. First of all, vinyl isn't a solid. It will bend, blur and change shape before your eyes, but it won't break. Second, watch where you're standing. Sku has a tendency to turn everyone on his stage including Approach and Mac Lethal into gods on the mic. Finally, get some perspective. If you think all DJs in Kansas City have turntable skills on par with Sku, then you must not get out much.
-Pitch
Corey Aguilar can't keep his hands off records. Between the time he spends in record stores and the hours he spins vinyl on the ones and twos, DJ Sku's thumb has been on just about every good hip-hop, soul, funk or rock record in existence. Born in El Paso, Texas, and now living in Lawrence, Sku (say it skew) has been battling in scratch matches since 2001 and has won four KJHK 90.7 Waxclash DJ competitions, all on the strength of self-taught skills. No one can take him on locally, and we'd put him up against the best in the country. Sku brings his fists-of-fury, battle-style scratching into all of his work, whether he's playing a house party or rocking a club. He also plays the spotlight-stealing sideman to MCs Approach and Mac Lethal, elevating a live hip-hop show from open-mike banality to mind-blowing performance art. In fact, it's hard to get down when Sku's spinning because it's impossible to take your eyes off his surgically precise hands. He practices the art of the live remix better than anyone we've seen, taking any two records and slamming them together to make something new without dropping a single beat or bead of sweat." - "Best of Kansas City 2005" Winner, Best DJ (Pitch Weekly)
"DJ Sku's face is pure elation, but you might miss it if you're too busy watching his hands make chop suey of some poor, defenseless records" --Nadia Pflaum, Pitch Weekly

Mashit, Boston Bounce - Chicago Beat scholar, party scientist, ragga maniac, and remixer of singers from M.I.A. to Gregory Isaacs, DJ C continues to spread his fiercely eclectic gospel of crunkment, mashstep, ragga-bounce, and grime-hall across the land. He's been pumping out a series of records on U.S., U.K., and Japanese labels including a remix of M.I.A.'s U.R.A.Q.T. for her Galang 05 single on XL Recordings, as well as singles/remixes for Ninja Tune, Soul Jazz, Man Recordings, Shockout, Community Library, and his own Mashit imprint; sharing the groves in those slabs of vinyl with the likes of Sinden, Drop The Lime, Ghislain Poirier, The Bug, Kid606, Serj Tankian and many more. Back in Oct. '04 legendary BBC Radio 1 host John Peel chose Mashit as a "label of the month" and featured a DJ C mix of Mashit tracks. Since then his tunes have continued to evolve into ever-more devastating dance-floor monsters.
