Nuff respect to Toasters (sometimes) front man Jack Ruby, Jr. Jack Ruby Jr. has a rich linage in the muzik biz. Based in Ocho Rios, JACK RUBY. (RIP) was a distinct standout on the Jamaican muzik scene. He discoverd and produced Burning Spear and Foundation to name a couple. So, his seed Jack Ruby, Jr. is authentically carrying the torch of the blackheart man. Jr. was also a member of the kool Acid Jazz Hiphop krew The Jazzhole. BTW, Jack Ruby, Jr. is also Sean Kingston's uncle.

Exploring Roots Of Culture) HAS ENTERED THE ARENA !!!
EROC (E.R.O.C.) aka Erik Fijolek was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. His parents are from Poland. EROC's father Joseph Fijolek was the bandleader and bassist for his Polish band. With that early introduction to music by his father's band; plus growing up listening to groups like Black Sabbath, Metalica and AC/DC, definitely contributed to E.R.O.C.'s aspirations to be a recording artist.
In 2004, E.R.O.C. created an impressive underground buzz. This buzz eventually landed him a performance on the Carson Daly show (2004), where his performance was well received. Wyclef Jean was a guest on that episode of the Daly Show, and both Wyclef Jean and Carson Daly were impressed by E.R.O.C.’s performance. Wyclef and Carson Daly talked about E.R.O.C.’s performance throughout the entire show. Wyclef Jean went to see E.R.O.C. in the green room after the show and kicked it with him... Blah blah blah!

At about 3 a.m. in most towns east of New Mexico while on the road, you can ketch the Global Rock Showcase krew perched on the center stools across from the lesbian grill masters/cooks at a Waffle House after a gig. That is where the universal after party is in towns on lock-down after 2 a.m. Ask Nick from the Mad Haters who had a few free meals. Very kool scene. Everyone leaving a party or club seems to end up at the Waffle House. I mean it's a parade of stoners, rednecks, fags, emo kids, gutter punks sitting at the entrance, Lil' Jon type hiphop hedz with more metal in their mouths than Pittsburg Steel, local cops and State Troopers. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)! Mask de ting Iyah!!! It is an adventure folks. The "Global Rock" sound is the global rock sound. The "mashup" sound is undisputedly the "Global Rock" sound in any combination. Think we gonna stand around and look while someone takes our creation and call it their own. (Definitely ain't gonna be like Kool Herc where everybody is staking claim they created hiphop.) To quote dancehall reggae superstar Mr. Vegas on the 'Push It Up' track from the "STALAG 20, 21 & 22" cd (2000), "D.I.A come fi (to) mash e (the) world up." D.I.A. created both the Global Rock genre and "mashup" vibes. D.I.A lead the charge when closed minded folks could not fathom the concept... D.I.A. has never been affraid to mix ska, reggae, punk, funk, hiphop, metal, country, Oi, etc., in different variations in the recording studio; on Global Rock Showcase concerts; Ghetto Muzik video show (mid 90's), Global Rock Radio and in Fantra Zine publication (1993/4). Now there is a global hip-hop, global rhythm, global riddim, global reggae, global dub rock trend, etc. It is great to see other labels, artists, promoters, radio programs and journalists adopting the "Global Rock Revolution" from New York City to Ventura, California, and back to Wilmington, North Carolina. And it is sweeeeet to see f@kers who critisized now biting. It is all great. D.I.A. invented "Global Rock" and the mashup vibe for the world. Even BMI Publishing promoted "Global Rock" event at Lollapalooza. Where else is muzik gonna go? TOTAL INCLUSION!!
D.I.A's related Artists sound like 'emselves. Global Rock is the new genre for today's multi-genre world influenced sounds. GLOBAL ROCK in FULL EFFECT!!

Well... Billboard magazine acknowledged DIA Records' "global rock" sound calling it "a hiphop-rock-reggae crossbreed." Who are we to argue. Of course the music bible is correct. Our efforts are centered on creating universal muzik for the ages. Whether it's hiphop, reggae, punk, alternative or all of the above in any fusion combination, we want people to pop in (or download) D.I.A. recordings generations from now and say -- "this is timeless stuff". The "Global Rock" genre is any sound with multiple elements (ska/punk, reggae/alt. rock/dub, Rock/Psychedelic/Blues, etc.) The appeal is universal and not niched into one corner.
True grit is an important part of the Global Rock movement. We luv when it's a lil' ruff around the edges. Being slick and sugar coated is not D.I.A.'s style. We love keeping it rustic and grounded.
From a social standpoint, "Global Rock" transcends race, class, gender and age. It's about RHYTHM, CULTURE, RESPECT and total INCLUSION. Ight!! It doesn't matter if black and blue or walk with a disable gate like Yoda from Lucas Films. TOTAL INCLUSION (for most parts).

Records decided to release the "SK8ING AIN'T FREE" track by ViviSection//8 online because it underlines the message of "FREEDOM". The track is about standing up for one's rights as well as outlining a true reflection of what real punk is. "Sk8ing Aint Free" is a raw, krustie, dirty live recording with imperfections and we luv grittiness of the track. Like getting involved with sk8ing, recording punk does not require a huge budget. If one has to spend a lot of cash on recording a punk project it simply isn't punk. DIY with what you have baby!!

Jimmy Tennyson Smith is the artist behind Bob Marley's "Uprising" cover. DIA Records' "Stalag 20, 21 & 22 -- The next Generation" CD cover was painted by Jimmy also. This is a crucial artist with some incredible personal work.

Pic right: Angry Mike with Pete of Sick Of It All. What is Angry Mike the Hardcore Chef doing on DIA Records' page? First Angry Mike is a very good friend. Secondly, this is the best muzik fan ever. Every band needs at least 500 fans like Angry Mike. This crazy chef caught a flight from San Diego to New York City (2006) to see Sick Of It All at BB Kings all in one day. And after the gig he dropped about $300. on merch. Crucial FAN!! Angry Mike is really an excellent chef. He is developing his cooking show the "Hardcore Chef." Check the Hardcore Chef's pilot with him in his kitchen below. By the way his kitchen is outfitted with a beer spigot and a chilled keg. Very funny stuff from a character who should not be handling knives. Tell Emril Angry Mike is looking for him. As a matter of fact, Angry Mike went to New Orleans to look up Emril Lagasse to punch him in the face -- only to find out Emril was no where near the Big Easy man. True Story.
