About me:

My wings brush the edge of the sky. Long flight of days, passing many lands, death sleeps among my many feathers. Above, the eye of god is dreaming us. To the east the mountains are singing.

I'm a musician, poet & eternally-changing mystical Love warrior.

The Change-Mercy

I know Death to be
Necessary to the bargain,
And I agree to the terms,
However soon It comes.

You give me a Flower,
But when I accept It
I am become You
Because It is a turning Wheel.

Sweetest is my Lord
Whose Tears are the Stars in the Sky
She is a
LILY with petals of Four,
And in the middle is an Eye

She is above where Time's beads pour,
And so above the question Why?
She is beyond the Oldest Door--
     The Illusions Hello & Goodbye

Who I'd like to meet:

You!

Well, you seem to be open to transformations, so I will tell you that if Porcupine Tree resonates with you, your life with be transformed. This is what happened with me, and I can tell you that their many *extremely* dedicated fans had the same experience. They've been making albums since 1992, but until the latest 'Fear of a Blank Planet' they have been virtually unknown in America (they're British, which of course most good bands are). One reviewer described them as 'the best band you've never heard of." You can tell I'm obsessive on this subject, but as a musician you know that when music is that perfect frequency that melds with your emotions you can't help but become addicted!

To your original question, now that the media has latched onto them, they are calling them 'progressive rock' although Steven Wilson, the genius behind PT shuns labels such as this. Every album is different and every album is a masterpiece. It just so happens that 'prog rock' is making a comeback right now and fans are finally willing to embrace 'album oriented' music. Steven Wilson can't sit down for long--he's got side projects with a death metal band, a pop music project, an ambient music project...good music is just good music. I mention all this to you simply because your list of music includes some of the greatest (imho) musicians in rock history (john maclaughlin, etc.).

Anywaaaayyyy....so sorry you're not in OC but I will check out the other person you mentioned for guitar lessons. BTW, my 9 year old son is a hugh Porcupine Tree fan--this kid has great taste in music ;).

Cheers,
Crista
