This is Mic3. Mic-short for Michael, 3-for the third child, 3-for the three main islands of the Philippines, 3-for the Third day, I rise again.. Born in Heidelberg, Germany of Filipino descent with a pure Filipino bloodline consisting of Aqudahan, San Jose in Northern Samar, Visayan on my father's side; and Tagalog, Imus Cavitenian, in Malagasang where my mother is from. I left Germany with my family at the age of 3 and was raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i where I attended Aliamanu Intermediate and Radford H.S. It was in my teen years that I discovered a natural talent for poetry and more importantly a love for Hip-Hop. Those early years were just the first stage of my ongoing journey as a Hip-Hop artist and performer.
Graduated in 1998 from Radford Highschool and enrolled at Heald Business College for a few semesters before joining the military where I served in the U.S. Air Force. Stationed in Wyoming and in South Korea, 3 ½ years served. Once I separated from the Air Force I moved to Las Vegas for 5 1/2years and recently moved back home to Hawai'i, meeting different people and cultures along the way. It helped to cultivate my love and interest in all things hip-hop and a desire to perform as an artist under the name Mic3.
As I enhanced my style of writing rhymes and lyrics, I also developed a love of producing my own music. My lyrical content provides a soulful combination compared to the likes of Canibus mixed with Xzibit, and Papoose along Immortal Technique. My debut album titled "Supreme Lyrical Beatdown", showed that not only could I write and co-produce my own 13 track LP, but also aimed at reconstructing todays Hip-Hop landscape, to bring it back to its artistic foundation and roots. Along with my ear and and interest in all types of music, I illuminate the stage with a style of live performance. I have performed for crowds from the size of a high school classroom, to thousands strong. Although my accomplishments have some significant undertaking at this early stage of my career, I still carry myself with a humble attitude, and set my goals to becoming a better writer and performer.
At the moment I am now working with Thurst 4 Worst Productions, Brownnationculture.com, Wadalife Productions and LPoint Pictures. I just finished my first music video from my Island Boy Mixtape. The music video is entitled “ When We Ride to the Philippines”, which had its Hawai'i debut this past January 2008 at Next Door in downtown Chinatown, Honolulu. I’ve had the honor to have worked with and am still working with Dru James, Vernard Hardy, Gloves and John Henry a.k.a William S. of Blacksmith, Divine Productions, Keola Beats, First Verse, Karma, RU- West Coast Stick-Up Kid from Spanaway by way of Deathrow Records, and Verse One Productions.
I've had the chance to perfect my craft by way of separating myself from that what i knew and was comfortable with to being put in an environment and mindstate that most MC's would fall and crumble upon 100ft before contact. Therefore my Crafts been Perfected and is still in enlightening it on a daily basis.
My music has evolved from that of an angry adolescent to an educated lyrical and hip-hop historian. Though I began as a battle rapper in the early 90’s, I've grown to become well rounded and diverse in different styles of rhyme. My FOOD FOR THOUGHT has well equipped listeners to acknowledge an actual Filipino bloodline representer. "Hawaii's Hip-Hop Ambassador REpresenting the Philippines"
With an avid devotion to the art of rhyming, my creativity sets me apart from most and I can adapt and give the people what they want/need to move to or mellow out to. It's my poetry in motion that'll move you, Yet its not the same as what you hear or think to hear. While most people forget their roots, my goal is to educate and teach, to re-trace roots through Hip-Hop. Also to bring hope and pride to the Hawaiian Islands and Filipino communities, both locally and internationally.
"When we ride back to the P.I., I’mma grant your wish and that this: to live a better life than this, Imma do what I can, that’s the plan, I don’t talk no sh*t "
On That note, I hope all of my Friends and Family that believe in me know that I am making a difference in my message of Rhyme and keep the faith in your boy, know that I will make it happen in due time!! Thank you for the supprt and belief in Me. You know I show my gratitude and Praises to God for giving me this talent I so show. Maraming Salamat! and Stay tuned for the "Respect My Pride" Album 2009.
