"Baltimore’s Two If by Sea have more in common with bands across the big ocean than they do anyone in their own city. Rich, lush, epic, grandiose, and theatrical are just a few of the many adjectives justly applicable to the music these guys make..."
-POPMATTERS
"Safety represents a major evolutionary step for Two if by Sea...a smart and surprising move by a band that's made its name by making people dance."
-BALTIMORE CITY PAPER
"Stylishly foreboding"
-SPIN.COM
"These guys have the courage of their musical convictions, which is all one can ask for or expect"
-ALBUQUERQUE TRIBUNE
On such songs as "High Water Mark," TIBS also reveals a little more hard-rock firepower: David Hardy's guitar shifts into arena-rock mode, and drummer Chuck Cole slams his kit. Just as frequently, however, the band's melodies float above the thumping rhythms, creating tension and a feeling of distance -- both hallmarks of the British art-punk method.
-WASHINGTON POST
Two if by Sea have been regulars on IA, but with good reason. Safety was one of the best cds released this year...They are also known for tearing it up with their high energy live sets.
-INSTRUMENTAL ANALYSIS
If all the other groups in the genre were of Two If By Sea's quality, we might have something worth listening to on the radio. The tracks have an astral, dreamy quality to them.
-PITTNEWS
What makes Two if by Sea stand out from the multitude of bands that are working hard to compose songs in the theme of post-punk, is that they meld melodious lyrical power with their instruments. The writing - both musically and lyrically - is exceptional.
