Ref U G's Interests
General
Besides cooking, gardening, bikes, running and chasing purdy girls on skates, I rock climb, snowboard, camp and hike. I'm learning how to fly fish. I can speak inteligently about religion, politics, sports and wine. I know way too much about wine for my own good
Music
I listen to quite a bit of music that was recorded while cars still had 8-track players. OPM drives what I listen to these days, that's "other peoples music". I have faves from the Smiths to the Pixies, Chem. Bros. to the Beasties. Janes Addiction will always rile me up. Radio Head(live and in person at Blossom, twice, omg.) Stereo Lab, De La Soul, Outkast, The Man in Black, Burt Bacharach, Edith Piaf and smokey Miss Holiday. Serge Gainsburg and Leonard Cohen. When I hear these artists, I think of who turned me on to them. Blues is in my blood and R&B is in my heart. New on the OPM play list: Koop. Thanks TJ!
Movies
Probably sounds like Spike TV but here goes: Papillon, Bridge over the River Kwai, The Dirty Dozen, Various Bond flicks, Marathon Man, Midnight Cowboy, Cape Fear(1st one) Most any thing in black and white with Robert Mitchum, Steve McQueen or Paul Newman, The Guns of Navarone, Dog Day Afternoon(the original "Reservoir Dogs", also good), Andromeda Strain, Journey to the Center of the Earth and Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea(James Mason's two best), Hair(a musical guy's can like), Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension, the original Dr. Doolittle with Rex Harrison(another musical guy's should like and girls should seek out, a true fantasy), Man in the Wilderness(makes that documentary of the guy who got ate by the bears seem dumb), Paint your Wagon(hey, another musical, Lee Marvin sings!), Peter Sellers: Pink Panther, Dr Strangelove and the very special Being There, the one you must see.
Television
I only watch network (another great movie) TV so current is best, Lost, Prison Break, 24, Grey's Anatomy, House, Boston Legal, Earl and the Office are shows I'd tape.
Books
Hesse, T. R. Pearson, Pynchon, William Goldman, Elmore Leonard(early stuff), Douglas Adams, Anthony Burgess, Ayn Rand, Finally read Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance and started up with some of the Duluoz Legend by Kerouac.
Heroes
Always liked the Green Hornet. Buckaroo Banzai is quite the hero. My dad whom I always look up to. Gene Hackman in the original Posiedon Adventure. Oh yeah, Burning River Roller Girls!
About me: I am a referee for the Burning River Roller Girls. My life did not exsist before I donned the black and white stripes and skated out on those maple planks. Though I'm always looking forward to the next time I get to skate in circles blowing my whistle at 50 of the hottest chiquitas on wheels, there are things I find very satisfying to fill the rest of my days. I run. Not often these days, but skate practice makes up for the miles I skip. I ride. Love two wheeled travel. Tough these days with the white out and all. I have eight or ten bicyles of various monetary or emotional value that I wrench on and ride upon and an old Yamaha 650 of which I'm rather fond. I live in a drafty old house that probably isn't haunted but is home to many spirits. I argue with the two cats that live here, as well feed and clean up after them. I cook. Sometimes I even get to cook something I grew in my backyard but cooking in general makes me a happy Ref. I live near a big lake that always captures my gaze. I try to look upon it daily and imagine life on boats.

Who I'd like to meet: You've seen the stickers that say: "Mean people suck" ? Well they don't really suck, I just have less time for them. A lot less time. If not for mean people, how would we know who was nice? Sometimes even good people have a bad day.
"Fucking Zebras!"
No, silly. You know: "noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle" and then "noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle" and then "bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum" and then "noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle-noodle".
my shoes were recovered later, i got lost in that labrinth of a hotel, ended up on the floor of someones room..all together it was a great night. the ride home was horiblle, blizzard snow, wind and a horrible head-ache, but it was well worth it my freind...
