About me:
Intro to Evinology
There always comes a time when life throws you a challenge or more that you have no choice but to face head-on. Every person’s character must be put to the test for maturity to take effect, or for it to continue. However, there also comes a time when a vast series of challenges and changes manifest themselves, to where simple adaptation becomes too little to deal with. These are the conditions for evolution. And in a person’s life, evolution means to redefine who they really are, in order to survive in a rapidly altering world. That is exactly what I’m undertaking now, as I prepare to begin a new life. Welcome to Evinology: The Study of My Life.
Part 1: Identification
These are the basics about me, just to give you a general idea of who this is.
My name is Evin.
My birthday is March 10, 1987, which would make me a 21 year old Pisces.
I was born in Saint Louis, MO, but also raised in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
I stand about 5'8", and weigh 135 lbs last time I checked.
Do not ask me if I'm mixed; the answer is "duh". You may ask me what I'm mixed with though. From what I know, I am black (African), Native American (Blackfoot), and white (French-Canadian).
I speak as good as my education, with a slight St. Louis accent. If you think saying I talk white is an insult, believe me when I say you're an idiot.
I'm a 4.0 student (for now) attending University of Missouri-St. Louis. My major is Public Policy & Administration, trying to decide on a minor. Either Business Administraion, International Relations, Theater & Dance, or Communications. What do you think?
I have my own car; a 1997 Honda Accord. I'm trying to get a 2008 Pontiac G6. My current dream car is the Aptera. I'm a friendly driver, so feel free to stop me and chitchat :)
Single.
I'm highly selective about who I call a friend. I've got high standards for people who want a spot in my life, since I've made far too many bad decisions when it comes to people. A friend of mine has to accept me and my flaws, and vice versa. I ask for time, attention, respect, and loyalty.
My relationship standards are MUCH higher than those of my friendships. To start it off, my girlfriend also has to be my best friend.. if I can't connect with you on the basic levels, it's not worth it. I don’t involve myself with people I can’t make a long-term commitment to. If I can look at you and see when and where the endpoint of “us” is, chances are your time with me is in jeopardy.
Part 2: Soul Design
Everyone is their own individual. Therefore, everyone has a sort of science to them; the mystery with which people attempt to unravel in order to understand each other. This is my sample for you to learn about me. This is but a mere fraction of what makes me tick, to spark your interest into knowing the system that runs my clockwork.
I am Phoenix
If there were ever a symbol to represent my life, I believe that I embody that of the phoenix. The phoenix is a mythical sacred firebird that, at the end of its life-cycle, burns itself within fire and is reborn from the ashes to start anew. It is said to regenerate when hurt by a foe, thus nearing immortality and invulnerability. There is only one phoenix in existence at a time. Many cultures consider the phoenix to be the king of all birds, and a symbol of fire and divinity. Jewish folklore says that the phoenix, after refusing to eat the forbidden fruit, was the only animal not to join Adam in his banishment from the Garden of Eden.
Likewise, I have always been able to recover from some of the worst personal tragedies, the last of which was the death of my unborn child and losing the relationship with the only girl I ever wanted to marry. I have survived everything that has gone wrong, and have returned each time. There are many other reasons why, but I'll let you get to know me first.
Natural-Borne Polemicist
I grew up questioning everything around me. I love to debate, I enjoy controversy, and winning is my anti-drug. If you have a point, I have a counter-point. I never put myself in a situation where I have to defend myself or my beliefs; instead, I simply bide my time to go on the counter-offensive. I live by my own morals, my own standards, my own code. For those who call me opinionated, I say this: don't judge me for having an opinion, look at what my opinions are. As my play-twin says, "Everyone feels a certain way about everything".
A Proud Smart Ass
I admit to having a blunt personality. I hold my tongue for no person. I say exactly what is on my mind, especially when asked. I may come off rude or brash, but sometimes I consider that perception a minor price to pay. I would rather be brutally honest than stubbornly silent.
The Life of a Secular Humanist
I have no ties to any religion, I do not believe in any type of deity (God, Allah, etc), nor the supernatural. I believe that religion does not have the sole authority to declare what is right or wrong. Likewise, I do not have to believe in "God" to believe in "Good"; it's simply an extra "o" to me. I know this puts me at odds with a lot of people, but guess what? I'm an American; I have the freedom of religion, not the requirement of one.
Your God, Not Mine
You're probably thinking "If you don't believe in God, why are you speaking on Him?" To make a point, silly! I was born to a Christian family, flirted with Islam, turned back to Christianity, turned to agnosticism, and have now settled with Humanism. But I learned, on my own, one thing that a lot of you seem to lack: tolerance. I can respect your belief in religion and your chosen deity. I can also respect your belief that your favorite rapper is talented, your country is #1, your school is where it's at, and your significant other is fire. But, I'm not arrogant enough to criticize your beliefs, especially when they have merit. I may not agree with it, but I won't criticize you as long as you don't try to force me to believe it, tell me I'm wrong for not believing it, or tell me you're right for believing it. Push will come to shove, and trust me when I say I do not lose my balance.
Outro
This is merely the quick (or not so quick) rundown. No amount of words typed on a website will give you even a close fraction to who I am offline and in person. Therefore, if youre looking to learn more about who I am, and what the Redevanition is about, then you should do what is necessary and begin contact. I am only looking for friends at this time, no girlfriend material, no replacement chick, or freak partner applicants. Take heed. Peace.
