Marvel has released a comic book to go with the new Netflix Defenders series. Find out more here.
If you’re anything like us, then waiting for Netflix Original, Marvel’s The Defenders has been hellish. Since it was announced all the way back in 2013, we’ve been sat, edge of seat waiting for it. We’ve been sated along the way with TV shows focussing on each of the four Defenders, namely Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Daredevil.
But the excitement of seeing them all working in unison to tackle the bad guys of New York is simply too much to ignore. You may be interested to read our fact file on everything you need to know about The Defenders, but that can only go part of the way to filling the Marvel shaped hole in your existence.
The creators can obviously sense the expectation building before the show’s August release date. As such they’ve been engaging in a bit of pre-show hype building. They’ve had the various Twitter accounts associated to the four super heroes sniping at each other. Check out the banter below:

Which is all great press and a nice little bit of online interaction between the characters. But...
As with anything nice on the internet, someone has to shit on it. With this simple, well executed and perfectly deployed tweet.
How can daredevil see and write in the cellphone's keyboard? XD

Thanks Angel. As long as there are people like you in this world, we just can’t have nice things can we.
Comic Book Release Dates
As part of the hype train, Marvel are releasing a new comic series for the Defenders. It begins on June 13 2017. It features the four TV series heroes as opposed to the current comic book Defenders team of Doctor Strange, Red She-Hulk, Namor, the Silver Surfer and Iron Fist.
The new comic book series will be written by Brian Michael Bendis, who has previously written Daredevil comics. Artwork and the covers are by David Marquez.
The solicitation synopsis reads:
Daredevil! Luke Cage! Jessica Jones! Iron Fist! Individually, these four heroes have been on the front lines of the battle to keep the streets of the city safe and secure! But now, with a deadly enemy from the dim past making a major move to unite the underworld, they will need to become more — they will need to become DEFENDERS! Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez unite to bring you the next great super-team, in the tradition of NEW AVENGERS!
You can buy it for $4.99. Find out all you need to know and see some of the artwork over at Newsarama.
