Young Yizzy is, at 17, one of the real grime youngsters. Here's what he's been doing with himself recently.
Young Yizzy broke through with his thumping grime track, This is Life. The track, released in April 2017 rocketed the young Londoner to the forefront of the grime gaggle. And there sure is a lot of competition at the moment. What with other young’uns such as AJ Tracey, J Hus and Stefflon Don all vying for space.
We featured Young Yizzy just last month but the boy’s been busy in the meantime. If you want to read our previous article, ‘Who Is Young Yizzy?’ you will learn a bit of background on the teenage artist.
New Young Yizzy Releases
Young Yizzy was featured by Risky Roadz, the pioneering grime DVD series. You can watch his four minute entry below:
He has also released a new track with Tuckz called Big Man #Lewisham.
Lewisham is the area of London that Young Yizzy hails from. And he’s particularly proud of it. There’s quite a movement coming out of the area. It is the hometown of the stunningly energetic Elf Kid, with his track Golden Boy which is a playful reimagining of Amerie’s 1 Thing. It also brought the world Novelist and his song Take Time.
#Grime4Corbyn
The recent general election in the UK saw a drive for youth engagement. The under 30s tended to be angry at the establishment but not show up to the polls. One unnamed politician is quoted as saying, “Under-30s love [Labour party leader Jeremy] Corbyn but they don’t care enough to get off their lazy arses to vote for him!”
In response grime artists banded together to form a #Grime4Corbyn movement. The movement scored a moral victory in the polls helping Corbyn go from dead in the water to very respectable loss. But lose he did. AJ Tracey supported the movement, as did Jme.
