The Delaware rock band delivers a retrospective message in this haunting visual.
Awake At Last explore the different stages of a person's life on their upcoming EP, Life/Death/Rebirth. And the Delaware rock band wanted to further relay that message with their video for "Purgatorium" that takes us on the a journey through an individual's life and how he's nearing his end.
"Fitting into the overall story and concept of Life/Death/Rebirth," singer Vincent Torres tells Myspace, "struggle and adversity shaping who we are as people — Purgatorium tells the story of the character’s life ending."
Torres not only wanted the lyrics to convey a somber atmosphere, but he also wanted it to be heard in the music. "I wanted the vocal melodies to have a haunting vibe over the darker, theatrical instrumentals," he says. "The story plays back and forth between a first person and outside perspective to represent that one of the biggest obstacles we face in life in the end, is ourselves. I want to give the listener the message of being able to preserve and outlast all of the obstacles that present themselves because fear is often a misunderstood friend."
Life/Death/Rebirth is set to release on July 7, but in the meantime, watch the video for "Purgatorium" below.
